Chinese insurers' gross premium volume up

The China Insurance Regulatory Commission said that gross premium volume of the country's insurers totaled 1.7 trillion Chinese yuan ($267.24 billion) in the first eight months of 2015, up 19.5% year on year, reported Shanghai Daily.

Data from the regulator showed that gross premium volume increased 19.9% in the first seven months of the year.

Nonlife insurance income increased 11.4% to CNY 554.6 billion ($87.18 billion) during the period.

Data showed that total insurance assets increased 11% from the start of the year to CNY 11.3 trillion ($1.776 trillion).
