The insurance industry in Sierra Leone, one of the many West African nations gripped by the Ebola epidemic, is at high risk due to the problem, Nigeria's BusinessDay reports.

Sierra Leone's Ministry of Agriculture has said that around 30% GDP loss has been observed due to the pandemic.

The country's underdeveloped insurance sector needs to prepare for huge claims from the different classes of businesses, including mining and tourism, reports BusinessDay.

Top insurer Reliance Insurance Trust Corp. (S.L.) Ltd., having a 70% market share, is highly exposed to damages from Ebola.
