New Zealand: Weather damage more than $112.7 million so far in 2014

The Insurance Council of New Zealand has said that damage worth about $135.4 million New Zealand ($112.7 million) has been caused so far in 2014 by extreme weather, reported The New Zealand Herald.

With more than $32 million New Zealand ($26.6 million) in damage to homes and motor vehicles and around 10,000 claims, the Easter storm was the biggest weather event of 2014.

Insured losses from weather events in 2013 were $175 million New Zealand ($145.7 million).
