Takaful operators in Pakistan have come to an agreement with their conventional insurance counterparts, a move that allows the latter to run Shariah-compliant insurance business through parallel window operations, The Express Tribune reported.
This follows a lengthy battle between the operators and the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan over curbing competition in the Islamic insurance sector.
The deal is expected to result in investments valuing billions of rupees.
