Eastern Europe: Generali Group's property/casualty premiums in Central and Eastern Europe up 9.8% in 2012

Assicurazioni Generali S.P.A.'s gross written premiums across the Central and Eastern Europe region totaled €4.1 billion ($5.4 billion) in 2012, of which property/casualty lines accounted for €2.4 billion ($3.17 billion), Xprimm reported.

The region's business represented 11% of the Group's property/casualty insurance's gross written premium. The 9.8% growth seen in the property/casualty lines in the first nine months of 2012 has been attributed to Russia and Poland's performance in commercial and industrial lines. Generali Group's operating result rose 7.4% to €4.2 billion ($5.54 billion). The total premiums written by the Group rose 3.2% to €69.6 billion ($91.84 billion).
