Air India grounds six Boeing-787 Dreamliner planes to comply with FAA directive

The Financial Express has reported that Air India Ltd. has grounded its fleet of six Boeing-787 Dreamliner planes after the Federal Aviation Administration issued a global directive to stop operations of all the 50 Dreamliner planes currently being run by various airlines worldwide with immediate effect.

The Dreamliner fleet will be grounded until the aircraft manufacturer Boeing Co. can comply with various measures set by the FAA. Air India officials said that the move will not have a major impact on its flight schedule as the Dreamliner fleet will be replaced by the existing fleet of aircraft. In September 2012, Air India grounded three Dreamliners after a glitch was found in the plane’s liquid cooling system and electrical power system.
