PEMBROKE, Bermuda—PartnerRe Ltd. said Wednesday that it expects pretax losses of $500 million from last month's earthquake and tsunami in Japan, net of retrocession and reinstatement premiums.
The Pembroke, Bermuda-based reinsurer said it expects the industrywide loss from the disaster to be $25 billion to $30 billion.
Also this week, catastrophe modeler Risk Management Solutions Inc. estimated total insured property loss from the magnitude 9 earthquake and tsunami that struck last month will be between $18 billion and $26 billion.
HAMILTON, Bermuda—Alterra Capital Holdings Ltd. has estimated that its losses as a result of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in Japan could range from $60 million to $100 million before taxes and net of reinsurance and reinstatement premiums, the company announced Wednesday.
