SAN FRANCISCO—A four-year criminal investigation into potential misconduct by former California State Compensation Insurance Fund employees and directors ended without charges being filed.
In 2007, the California Highway Patrol, California Department of Insurance and San Francisco District Attorney’s Office formed a joint task force to investigate financial practices related to SCIF’s group insurance programs, which provided discounted workers compensation insurance for members of trade associations.
The investigation came after the firing of former SCIF President James C. Tudor and former SCIF Vp Renee Koren. At the time, SCIF attributed the firing to results of an internal review, which focused in part on its group insurance program.
But on Wednesday, current SCIF President Tom Rowe, notified employees in a memo that he had been informed that the task force completed its investigation and charges will not be filed.
SACRAMENTO, Calif.--The California Highway Patrol, California Department of Insurance and San Francisco District Attorney's Office said Wednesday they have formed a joint task force to investigate allegations of "potential misconduct" by former employees of the State Compensation Insurance Fund.
