BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

LONDON—David Mead has been appointed to the new role of chief operating officer of Chaucer Syndicates Ltd., the Lloyd's of London managing agency of Chaucer Holdings P.L.C.

Mr. Mead, who was named to the post Monday pending regulatory approval, previously was managing director of group operations at London-based brokerage Willis Group Holdings P.L.C.

Mr. Mead starts his new position Nov. 1.
