The California Division of Workers’ Compensation in late December announced the decrease of the mileage rate for medical and medical-legal travel expenses.
The new rate reduces the mileage paid by 1.5 cents to 56 cents per mile, effective Jan. 1 regardless of the date of injury, according to an announcement.
State labor code dictates that the rate payable for mileage reimbursement for medical and medical-legal expenses is tied to that of the Internal Revenue Service, according to the announcement.
The California Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board unanimously adopted emergency temporary standards on Thursday to protect workers from hazards related to COVID-19. The emergency standards will be in effect immediately if approved by the Office of Administrative Law in the next 10 calendar days.
