Jury pool snuffed out on felony marijuana case


New Orleans prosecutors this week could not find six people they could convince that a waiter at a French Quarter restaurant was guilty of a felony marijuana charge, the Times-Picayune reported Thursday.

In questioning potential jurors, prosecutors found that the first 20 of 25 of them thought pot’s not a problem and a city Criminal District Court judge was forced to halt the selection process, according to the newspaper. 

Specifically, the potential jurors agreed they don’t think marijuana should be illegal, helping to vindicate — although not quite legally — restaurant server Jabar Kensey’s possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
