Marsh reveals appointments effective after JLT merger

Marsh LLC has announced dozens of major appointments in the wake of its parent company’s planned acquisition of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group PLC.

The appointments will be effective upon closing of the transaction, which is still subject to antitrust and regulatory approvals, the brokerage unit of Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc. said Tuesday in a statement.

At Marsh international, Chris Lay will continue to serve as CEO of the United Kingdom and Ireland, while Adrian Girling, currently chairman of U.K., Europe and South Africa for JLT, will become chairman of U.K. and Ireland corporate and risk management for Marsh and report to Mr. Lay, according to the statement.

Nick Harris, CEO of Australia and New Zealand for JLT, will become CEO of Pacific for Marsh, while Scott Leney, currently Marsh Pacific CEO, will become CEO for Australia and report to Mr. Harris. Andre Louw, currently chairman of Australia and New Zealand for JLT, will become chairman of Pacific for Marsh.

Christos Adamantiadis will continue as CEO of Middle East and Africa, while Peregrine Towneley, currently CEO of Middle East and Africa for JLT, will become chairman of Middle East for Marsh, according to the statement.

Robert Makhoul, currently Marsh & McLennan’s chief client officer and chairman of Middle East for Marsh, will continue as Marsh & McLennan chief client officer for the Middle East.

David Jacob will continue as CEO of Asia, while Alan Cheah will continue as chairman of Asia. James Addington-Smith, currently Asia specialty leader for Marsh, will become CEO of ASEAN, a subregion of Asia, reporting to Mr. Jacob, according to the statement.

Siegmund Fahrig will continue as CEO of Continental Europe, while Ricardo Brockmann will continue as CEO of Latin America.

All international regional leaders will report to Flavio Piccolomini, president of Marsh international.

Martin South, president of Marsh U.S. and Canada, will continue to lead the region, as previously announced, while Sarah Robson will continue as CEO of Canada, reporting to Mr. South.

Marsh and JLT will combine specialty operations, and Dominic Burke, CEO of JLT Group, in addition to becoming vice chairman of Marsh & McLennan and a member of its executive committee, will become London-based chairman of Marsh-JLT Specialty, as previously announced.

Lucy Clarke will become the London-based president of Marsh-JLT Specialty reporting to Marsh President and CEO John Doyle, as previously announced. Global specialty leaders will report to Ms. Clarke while regional specialty leaders will report both to Ms. Clarke and their respective regional leader, according to the statement.

Specialty executives

In terms of global specialty divisions, Simon Harker, currently global aviation and space leader for Marsh, will become global head of aviation, while Richard Gurney, currently global head of construction for JLT, will become global head of construction, according to the statement.

Nick Robson, currently global head of credit, political and security risk for JLT, will become global head of credit specialty while Evan Freely, currently global credit specialty leader for Marsh, will become deputy global head of credit specialty, reporting to Mr. Robson, according to the statement.

Andrew George, currently global industry specialty leader for Marsh, will become global head of energy and power, while Jim Pierce, currently global head of energy, power and mining for JLT, will become chairman of global energy and power.

Mark Wood, currently global head of financial lines for JLT, will become head of international financial and professional lines, while Devin Beresheim, currently U.S. FINPRO practice head for Marsh, will become head of FINPRO U.S. and Canada, according to the statement.

Marcus Baker, currently global marine leader for Marsh, will become global head of marine, while Karen Beldy Torborg, currently Marsh’s global private equity and mergers and acquisitions and infrastructure leader, will become global head of PEMA and infrastructure.

In terms of regional specialty leaders, Pat Donnelly, currently CEO of the U.S. for JLT Specialty USA, will become head of Marsh-JLT specialty for U.S. and Canada, according to the statement.

Paul Moody, currently Marsh U.K. and Ireland specialty leader, will become head of Marsh-JLT specialty for U.K. and Ireland, while Roy White, currently chairman of U.K. specialty for Marsh, will become chairman of Marsh-JLT specialty for the U.K. and Ireland. Paul Knowles, currently CEO of U.K., Europe and South Africa for JLT, will become head of Marsh-JLT specialty in Continental Europe.

Josh Roach, currently Marsh specialty leader for Pacific, will become head of Marsh-JLT specialty for Pacific, while Dominic Samengo-Turner, currently CEO of Asia for JLT, will become Head of Marsh-JLT specialty in Asia, according to the statement.

Peter Foley, currently Marsh retail placement and specialty leader in Latin America, will become head of Marsh-JLT specialty for Latin America, while Gaurav Bhatnagar, currently Marsh retail placement and specialty leader in Middle East and Africa, will become head of Marsh-JLT specialty in MEA, according to the statement.

Dean Klisura will become president of Marsh global placement responsible for placement protocols and standards across all lines within Marsh, and he will lead nonspecialty placement operations including Bowring Marsh and existing multiline placement hubs, as previously announced.

Regional placement leaders will continue in their current positions reporting to Mr. Klisura and to their respective regional leaders, including: John Donnelly, global placement leader for Asia and Pacific; Nick Holmes, global placement leader for Continental Europe and Middle East and Africa; Carlos Rivera, global placement leader for Latin America; Andrew Chester, global placement leader for the U.K. and Ireland; and Chris Lang, global placement leader for the U.S. and Canada. Tom Davies, global wholesale placement leader for Marsh, will continue in that role, leading Bowring Marsh and reporting to Mr. Klisura.

In November, Guy Carpenter & Co. LLC announced that JLT reinsurance executive, Ross Howard, will become vice chairman of Guy Carpenter based in London.
