It’s a bird … it’s a plane … actually, it’s a drone.
In fact, multiple drones will be seen amid news that insurer Allianz S.E. has extended its sponsorship of the New York-based Drone Racing League to five years.
“DRL has been a perfect strategic partner for Allianz,” said Allianz marketing executive Jean-Marc Pailhol.
The insurer’s interest in the sponsorship comes as no surprise, as it is a key provider of coverage for unmanned aircraft system operations as the use of drones starts to increase in the commercial sector by industries as varied as insurance to emergency response to newsgathering operations.
The league will be adding a race in the French city of Nice to its schedule on June 16, with the 2018 season finale set for September in Saudi Arabia. The league said its 2016 and 2017 championships have been watched by more than 55 million fans around the world.
So, it’s off to the races once again.
Despite arguing that revealing the secret to a famous trick of making 13 audience members disappear would be financially detrimental, megastar magician David Copperfield was forced to tell all in front of a judge in a Las Vegas courtroom last week, according to media reports.
