Law firms from seven countries that focus on insurance law have joined to form Global Insurance Law Connect, a London-based insurance legal network.
“Each member firm can efficiently and effectively serve its clients’ global needs by offering an extensive network of local lawyers with specialized knowledge,” the network said Monday in a statement.
Member firms are Milan-based Batini Traverso Grasso & Associati; London-based BLM; Paris-based Byrd & Associates; Chicago-based Foran Glennon Palandech Ponzi & Rudloff P.C.; Madrid-based Blanco & Associados; Mumbai-based Khaitan Legal Associates; and Sao Paolo-based Santos Bevilaqua Advogados.
A cornerstone of the network is 14 special legal and risk interest groups sharing expert knowledge with clients across classes of business such as product liability, directors and officers, marine, energy and cyber, with additional groups to be added as the alliance grows in the next six months, the group said in the statement.
Van Eyghen, chief executive at the Chile branch of U.K.-based reinsurance brokerage firm Cooper Gay Swett & Crawford Ltd., said that the current Latin American brokers of the company have agreed on a strategy to create a network of offices. The offices that will form the network are located in Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Bolivia, Mexico, Uruguay, Bolivia, Central America, Colombia, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela, BNamericas reported.
