BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Canadian claims adjuster SCM Insurance Services is expanding into the U.S. with the acquisition of St. Louis-based Nixon & Co. Inc.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. According to the company’s website, Nixon employs about 60 claims management staff and has four offices, all in the Midwest. It handles auto and general liability claims, business interruption, property, workers compensation and several other lines.

“This is a strong opportunity, not only for us as organizations, but for our clients,” Scott Goodreau, Chicago-based chief operating officer, U.S., for SCM said in the statement. “SCM studied the U.S. market closely before deciding that this was both the right time, and Nixon the right company, to begin our expansion into the United States.”

Toronto-based SCM hired Mr. Goodreau last year as part of its plan to expand into the United States. Previously, Mr. Goodreau had worked as chief sales office for brokerage Hub International Ltd.
