Broker expands benefits, commercial lines with agency purchase

Middle-market insurance broker The Hilb Group L.L.C. on Tuesday said it has acquired independent agency JWB Insurance Group.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Wilmington, North Carolina-based JWB Insurance provides specialty services in employee benefits and commercial insurance, Richmond, Virginia-based Hilb said in a statement.

The agency will continue under the current leadership of president James L. Wolfe Jr. and vice president James M. Warren Jr. JWB Insurance Group's 22 employees will stay on and operate from their Wilmington, North Carolina office, a Hilb spokesman said.

“JWB Insurance Group is a wonderful addition to The Hilb Group,” Robert J. Hilb, president and CEO of The Hilb Group, said in the statement. “Not only does JWB have an impressive, long-standing track record of success, it has proven expertise in areas we're focused on growing, including in the employee benefits and commercial insurance service lines.”
