BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Cooper Gay names Martin Sullivan a nonexecutive chairman

Martin Sullivan, who in May left Willis Group Holdings P.L.C. as deputy chairman, was named nonexecutive chairman of the main North American board of Cooper Gay Swett & Crawford Ltd.

Cooper Gay, the London-based wholesale and reinsurance brokerage, announced Tuesday that Sullivan was hired as nonexecutive chairman of CGSC Delaware Holdings Corp. He will be based in New York. CGSC's North American operations include Swett & Crawford, Energy Technical Underwriters and managing general agents Creechurch and Ethos Underwriting Services.

Mr. Sullivan joined Willis in 2010 to head its new global solutions unit, a position he held along with deputy chairman until leaving Willis earlier this year.

Previously, Mr. Sullivan succeeded Maurice R. Greenberg in 2005 as CEO of American International Group Inc. He left AIG three years later amid shareholder discontent.

“The appointment of Martin Sullivan will allow us to build on the successes of this year and continue our excellent trajectory,” Toby Esser, group CEO of Cooper Gay Swett & Crawford, said in a statement. “Martin's vast experience and energy coupled with our strong management team places us well to build upon our position as one of the leading US wholesalers.”
