Hub International units buy Unity Group, Vicencia & Buckley assets

Subsidiaries of Hub International Ltd. have acquired assets of The Unity Group Inc. and Vicencia & Buckley Insurance Services Inc., Hub announced.

Hub International Northwest acquired Bellingham, Wash.-based Unity, a full-service insurance brokerage firm, and Hub International Insurance Services Inc. acquired La Palma, Calif.-based Vicencia & Buckley, a full-service insurance brokerage firm, the broker announced in separate statements Thursday and Friday.

Hub did not disclose the terms of either deal.

Barry Hanson, president of the Unity Group, will join Hub Northwest as executive vice president, according to a statement. He will be based in Bellingham, Wash.

“With the addition of Hub’s value-added services, our team of professionals will be able to provide our clients with the many offerings of a top global brokerage firm,” Mr. Hanson said in a statement.

Steve Vicencia, president and CEO of Vicencia & Buckley, will join Hub California as executive vice president, and Michelle Vicencia Jondle, chief financial officer at Vicencia & Buckley, will join Hub California as senior vice president, the broker said in a statement. Both will remain based in La Palma, Calif.

Hub International is the 11th-largest broker of U.S. business, according to Business Insurance’s 2013 rankings.
