IronHealth has partnered with Medical Mutual Insurance Co. of North Carolina to offer a medical professional liability coverage for hospitals and their physicians.
Called IronMed NC, the product is intended to address issues stemming from recent health care reform and the increasing trend of hospital systems acquiring physician practices, announced the specialty health care unit of Ironshore Inc. in a statement Thursday.
“IronMed NC brings together the collective expertise and strengths of two organizations within the health care insurance sector to provide continuity in physician coverage, while also addressing the risk transfer needs of health care organizations,” said Matt Dolan, president of IronHealth, in a statement. “Our partnership with MMIC enables physicians to continue to work with their trusted insurance provider, while also offering protection for the hospital’s liability exposures.”
The coverage features physician liability coverage offering primary limits up to $2 million per occurrence/$4 million aggregate and hospital professional liability with primary limits available up to $2million/$4million per physician. Excess limits are available for both.
