BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

This year poses numerous challenges for the insurance marketplace overall. The hardening market is compounded by the significant disruption caused by the pandemic. It will be imperative that firms are able to exhibit sound controls as underwriters continue to increase their risk selection standards. Clients should expect their broker to understand their business, anticipate the risks ahead and provide the guidance needed through data and analytics to navigate a market where rates are increasing, and capacity is tightening.

In my new position, I am focused on helping our clients in the construction industry grow and develop their business. We look beyond transactional advice by supporting client business development and strategic initiatives as a business partner. I believe efficiencies can be gained by evaluating risk and insurance program design using tools and techniques that unlock value and increase advantages to the firm.

COVID-19 created many new challenges in an already challenging marketplace. It significantly altered the way we work and how we engage with both clients and partners. For our clients, it has caused financial strain and uncertainty of project starts, backlog and the new risks that must now be considered as we work to keep our people safe.

My first experience in the field was through an underwriting internship with Zurich’s construction business unit, which allowed me the opportunity to view construction projects first-hand throughout the Southeast and sparked my interest in learning more about the insurance and construction industry.

The construction and insurance industry are very relational, which requires trust and an understanding of your client’s business. Each client you engage with will be different. Listen and learn from everyone you encounter and every interaction. Do not be afraid to ask questions. Being able to think creatively and apply prior knowledge to each situation will help you build that level of trust and success.

My dream job outside of the industry would be to run a dog rescue shelter.

It is hard to pick just one. Hot wings and fries are two foods I could not live without.

Sports, trying out new restaurants, reading and travel.

I am a huge true crime fan, so anything along those lines is always a winner for me.

Getting outdoors with my husband, son and two dogs.
