Eight of the ten largest industrialized nations now face significantly higher weather-related losses as a proportion of gross national income compared with the 1980s, according to Germany-based Munich Re, Reinsurance News reported. Data shows a marked increase in loss ratios for Germany, Canada, Italy and France due to more frequent occurrences of floods, hailstorms and wildfires rather than single major hazards.
