First, and most important, a key differentiator of Carisk is the culture that has evolved, especially since the acquisition of multiple companies since 2018. One of the first HR deliverables after the first acquisition was to define the company’s Mission, Vision and Values. A team was formed consisting of a number of people, but most importantly, long term employees of Carisk and the acquired companies. Given their tenures, they had a keen understanding of what would work and what wouldn’t. We met consistently over a few months to be certain that we developed an MVV that clearly defined us and allowed us to grow. From that initial document, and with the Senior Management team leading by example, we have evolved (and will continue to evolve) a culture that allows our company to grow and our employees to thrive, minimizes turnover, and maintains a high degree of employee satisfaction. From a recruiting perspective, unsolicited resumes are often received from people who have heard about Carisk and wish to join us. Second, trust our employees to get their jobs done in a timeframe that meets their personal situation. For example, the company asks its employees to work 40 hrs. per week, but at times that are most convenient for them. Finally, Carisk offers its employees one important benefit that most of us have not previously received. It is not a medical benefit or a financial one, but one that is much more important and gratifying. Specifically, Carisk has allowed its employees to work for a company that ‘gives back’ to so many others in so many ways. Carisk, through its work with catastrophically injured workers, helps people, who are in incredibly difficult situations, on their pathways to recovery and ultimately to their ‘new normal’ (i.e., back to work at their old job or a different, less physical job, or even if unable to work, simply ‘being there’ for their spouse, children, friends and community). This work, which includes resolving physical issues, behavioral issues and often times, addiction issues, provides a great feeling of satisfaction that cannot be measured. This intangible ‘give back’ benefit is very rewarding and one that we all will stay with us throughout our careers/lives.
