Nobody wants to risk injuring their back for free pizza and beer.
According to a survey of 1,000 Americans by the moving company Mayflower, Americans are “increasingly prioritizing health and safety” while protecting their relationships.” Overall, 61% of people say they are turning to the pros for big moves.
Uncomfortable asking friends or family for help, 24% of those surveyed said they worried their enlisted friends and family helpers might get injured, and 22% felt they should be old enough to manage the move on their own.
The survey also found that 32% say they would hire professionals for their skill in handling bulky items or navigating tricky spaces — something friends might not be the greatest at.
(Cue Ross Geller: “Pivot, pivot.”)
