Latin America’s reinsurance market is softening: SCOR

Alfredo Lomeli, chief underwriting officer for Latin America and the Caribbean at France-based SCOR SE, said the region’s reinsurance market is shifting toward a softer cycle, driven by excess capacity in catastrophe and non-catastrophe lines, Reinsurance News reported. He added that facultative reinsurance is seeing the strongest competition, with new players offering more flexible terms and lower rates ahead of the 2026 renewals.
