Grads fail at Health Insurance 101: survey

Young adults of high school and college graduation age know diddly-squat about health insurance, a survey found.

Online marketplace eHealth Inc. surveyed 500 young adults ages 18 to 25 and found that 80% of them wouldn’t know where to start if they had to find health coverage on their own, but 79% say health benefits are a high priority when considering job options.

The survey also found that 57% admit they had a poor understanding of their coverage options upon graduation and 54% did not realize they could stay on a parent’s health plan until age 26.
