China Taiping faces up to $257M in Hong Kong fire exposure

China Taiping Insurance Holdings Company Ltd. faces potential liability exposure of up to 2 billion Hong Kong dollars ($257 million) tied to a deadly fire at Hong Kong’s Wang Fuk Court apartment complex that has killed at least 55 people, The Standard reports, citing Reuters. The firm’s Hong Kong unit also insured the complex’s renovation contractor under an all-risks policy providing HKD365 million in coverage.
