Australian insurers report stronger profits

Australian general insurers posted a profit after tax of nearly 2.3 billion Australian dollars ($1.5 billion) for the September quarter, up from about AUD2.1 billion in the same period in 2024, according to the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority, Insurance News reported. The net combined operating ratio improved to 82% from 85%, while total insurance revenue rose to AUD20.1 billion from AUD19.2 billion the same quarter last year.
