Hellenic Bank may buy CNP’s insurance operations in Cyprus

Hellenic Bank Public Co. Ltd. is reportedly planning to buy French insurer CNP Assurances SA’s insurance operations in Cyprus, with the deal expected to close as early as the end of this week, The Cyprus Mail reported citing the Cyprus News Agency. The acquisition may result in the formation of the largest insurance group in Cyprus, commanding substantial market shares in both the life and general insurance sectors.
