The number of gig workers in the U.S. has tripled from 2017 to 2021, driven by a desire for flexibility and better work-life balance, according to a report by on-demand staffing company Jitjatjo, BenefitsPro reports. The study found that 63% of respondents preferred gig work due to the ability to set their own schedules. However, concerns over poor benefits and lack of regulations persist, with 74% of respondents under 45 believing that gig workers should receive the same protections as traditional employees.
