Regulator to probe PwC’s role in auditing of Evergrande

Hong Kong's Accounting and Financial Reporting Council is starting an investigation into PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP’s role in auditing property giant China Evergrande Group, Barron’s reported. The report showed significant concerns regarding potential alleged deficiencies in PwC’s systems of quality management as well as the quality of the audits of China Evergrande Group. The firm was the auditor for Evergrande for over a decade before resigning in 2023.
