Taiwanese chipmaker expects over $92 million in losses due to quake

Leading semiconductor chip maker Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. said that the 7.2-magnitude earthquake, which struck Taiwan on April 3, caused estimated losses of $3 billion Taiwanese dollars ($92.4 million) to the firm in the second quarter, Reuters reported. The quake is also likely to bring a 50-basis point drop to the company’s second quarter gross margin.
