Zing Health sues HHS, CMS over 'serious error' in star rating

Posted On: Mar. 28, 2024 10:14 AM CST

Zing Health has sued the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, alleging a "serious error" in the calculation of its star rating for 2024, Becker’s Payer Issues reports. The Chicago-based company, which has 3,640 members in its Medicare Advantage Part D plan, claims that the CMS violated its own regulations by using the Tukey method, which removes extreme outliers from measure scores. Zing Health is seeking a recalculation of its 2024 star rating and a halt to any termination decisions based on this rating.
