The French Competition Authority has fined Google LLC €250 million ($272 million) for breaching the European Union’s intellectual property rules concerning its association with media publishers, PYMNTS.com reported citing Reuters. The fine stems from a copyright dispute originating in the country concerning online content. The regulator said that Google’s artificial intelligence-powered chatbot, Bard, now rebranded as Gemini, allegedly utilized content from publishers as well as new agencies for training purposes without prior notification.
