Former Qatar Airways chairman jailed over money laundering

Ali Sharif Al-Emadi, former chairman at Qatar Airways Co. QCSC and minister of finance, has received a 20-year jail sentence and a fine of $16.7 billion after he was found guilty of laundering over $5.6 billion, as well as bribery and abuse of power, Simple Flying reported citing Reuters. Mr. Emadi was arrested in May 2021 and the charges are related to his work as finance minister.
