Volcanic eruption forces closure of aviation services

Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency said that the Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki volcano in Wulanggitang District erupted on Jan. 1, spreading volcanic ash and disrupting flight services in the area, Tempo.co reported citing Antara. Due to the volcanic ash outspread in the atmosphere, all flights to and from Maumere in Frans Seda Maumere Airport had to be halted temporarily for safety reasons.
