Australia bans cargo ship over safety violations

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority has issued a 90-day ban to the Antigua and Barbuda-flagged general cargo ship BBC Jade, operated by Briese Heavylift GmbH & Co., after inspectors found that 57 tons of explosive substances were improperly stowed on board the ship during transit, gCaptain reported. This is the third time that the authority has banned a ship from the company from entering the country’s waters this year.
