Sanlam and Allianz get regulatory nod to form joint venture

South Africa-based insurer Sanlam Ltd. and German insurer Allianz SE have received regulatory approval to form a joint venture, called SanlamAllianz, which will provide financial and insurance services to corporate and retail clients in 27 markets in Africa, International Adviser reported. The joint venture will offer its products and services in the markets where one or both firms presently operate, with Namibia to be included at a later stage and South Africa excluded from the deal.
