Law firm Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliff LLP had a cybersecurity data breach in late February and March that may have affected clients’ data, including dental insurance-related information.

The law firm and Delta Dental of California, both of which are based in San Francisco, said last week that information taken during the breach, which occurred primarily between February 28 and March 13, may have included names, addresses, date of birth, dental insurance policy, health care provider information and limited dental diagnosis and treatment-related information.

No plan participation records containing Social Security numbers or financial account or payment card information were involved, they said in their statement.

The law firm said it is not aware of any misuse of plan participant information.

The statement said Orrick took immediate steps to block the unauthorized access and began an investigation with outside experts’ support, and has notified law enforcement. It has also introduced additional security measures and tools.

Impacted individuals are being offered two years of complimentary monitoring services, including credit monitoring and identity theft protection services.
