Insurers see increase in lawsuits as they withhold payments

U.K.-based insurance buyer and risk expert Mactavish’s litigation claims index jumped 14% in 2022, as more businesses went to court to get their insurance claims paid, Strategic Risk Asia Pacific reported. The company added that 82 commercial insurance lawsuits were filed against insurers during the year.

Mactavish added that the two biggest areas to see an increase in litigation were firms pursuing COVID-19 business interruption claims and aircraft firms suing their insurers for non-payment of claims associated with the loss of aircraft in Russia.
