Argo Group sees premiums fall over 17%

Bermuda-based insurer and reinsurer Argo Group International Holdings Ltd. reported a 17.2% year-on-year decrease in gross written premiums to $596.7 million in the first quarter of this year, mainly due to businesses the company has exited and sold, Reinsurance News reported. The insurer posted a net loss of $36.4 million, compared to a net loss of $3.6 million in the year-ago comparative period.
