(Reuters) — The U.S. government is investigating whether Rockwell Automation Inc. is exposing U.S. infrastructure, military and other government assets to potential cyberattacks through one of its China-based facilities, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday.

The investigation will focus on employees who might have access to software codes that connect with computer systems based at the company's facility in Dalian, China, the report said, citing U.S. officials and documents reviewed by the newspaper.

Rockwell said in a statement that it had not been notified by any U.S. agency of investigations regarding its China operations but added that the company would fully cooperate if it received a notification.

“There has been no report or other indication that these practices and protocols have been breached or that any of our products have been intentionally compromised,” the company said.

Milwaukee-based Rockwell, which does not expect the matter to have a material impact on its business, sells factory automation and robotics control software for industries including aerospace, marine and automotive.
