Trade union Unite the Union said on April 24 that 1,300 North Sea oil workers, including deck crew, technicians, and crane operators, have started the biggest offshore stoppage in a generation that could pose challenges for multi-billion oil industry players like BP PLC and Shell PLC, City A.M. reported. John Boland, Unite regional industrial officer, said that the 48-hour strike action is not just for demanding a pay hike, but also for holidays, working rotas and offshore safety.
