Regulation

The U.K. parliament is set to introduce new legislation to regulate big tech giants, such as Meta Platforms, Inc., Amazon.com, Inc. and Google LLC, and ensure that these firms do not stifle competition in digital markets using their power, City A.M. reported. The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Bill would protect consumers online by cracking down on rip offs, face reviews and unfair subscription traps. The bill, if passed, would grant the Competition and Markets Authority’s digital markets unit additional powers to tackle excessive dominance of the sector.
