Strikes force German airports to cancel numerous flights

The Dusseldorf Airport, Cologne/Bonn Airport and Hamburg Airport in Germany cancelled around 700 flights on April 20, after airport security workers went on strike over pay rise demands, Euronews reported. The strike is expected to further widen on April 21 as German trade union Verdi calls on security staff Stuttgart airport also to join the walkouts, forcing airports to cancel all departures. The actions are expected to affect at least 100,000 passengers.
