Elevance Health’s first quarter profits near $2 billion

Elevance Health Inc. reported a first-quarter profit of nearly $2 billion as the health insurer added more than 1 million new members, mostly from government subsidized health insurance plans, Forbes reports. Elevance, which operates an array of government and commercial health insurance including Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans in 14 states, announced that first-quarter profits rose 11% to $1.99 billion compared to $1.79 billion in the year-ago quarter.
