French strikes worsen Europe’s energy crisis

Strikes against pension reforms in France have gained momentum in the past six weeks and further worsened the energy crisis in Europe, which is already grappling with Russia cut gas flows in the wake of the Ukraine war, Energy Connects reported. The strikes have led to a rise in electricity prices in France, caused ships hauling fuel to divert from the country’s ports and forced it to burn through much of its natural gas stockpiles. The action halted operations at petrochemical plants, oil refineries, fuel terminals and LNG facilities.
