Google introduces AI tools to accelerate prior authorizations

Alphabet Inc.’s Google on April 13 announced a suite of artificial intelligence tools to help speed up one of health care’s big administrative bottlenecks: prior authorization, Forbes reports. This has remained a largely manual process on both sides with humans sorting through the unique details of a patient’s health plan and medical history across faxes, PDF documents, phone calls and online portals, the report says. The idea of exchanging data across different systems, known as interoperability, remains one of the biggest challenges in health care.
