Florida issues RFP for insurers to manage its overhauled Medicaid program

Florida is seeking bids from insurers to manage its $38 billion Medicaid program, reports Becker’s Payer Issues. The state is overhauling some aspects of its program, including reducing the number of contract regions from 11 to nine, and adding "plus" plans that allow families to access specialty and long-term care benefits through one plan. According to solicitation documents published by Florida's health care administration agency April 11, the agency plans to award contracts by December.
