According to early estimates from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the massive earthquakes that struck Turkey on Feb. 6 caused $5.1 billion in losses to the nation’s food sector, mainly due to reduced availability and higher prices due to crop losses, CIPS reported.
