Alternative capital grows to $96 billion in second half of 2022

Data from Gallagher Re shows that alternative reinsurance capital, generated mostly by insurance-linked securities, increased 2% to a record $96 billion as of the end of 2022, Artemis reported. The increase is a positive reflection of the ILS market’s continued recovery after several catastrophe loss challenged years. Meanwhile, traditional reinsurance capital declined by 14%.
